Privacy policy
Last updated October 28, 2026
TRESTLEWIRE collects as little as it can to run a news site. This page explains what that is.
What we collect
When you load a page, our servers record the page address, the site that referred you, your browser's user-agent string, and your approximate country. Instead of storing your IP address, we store a short one-way code made from it and a value that changes every day, so we can count unique readers without being able to identify you or follow you from one day to the next.
A small script on our own domain confirms that a page was viewed in a real browser. It sets no cookies and loads nothing from third parties.
If you sign up for the newsletter, we store your email address, the date, and which page you signed up on.
If you choose dark mode, that choice is saved in your own browser's local storage. It never reaches us.
What we don't do
We do not run advertising, use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, or embed third-party analytics or social media trackers. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.
The share links on our articles are plain links. Nothing is sent to X, Facebook, LinkedIn, or anyone else unless you click one, and what happens then is covered by that service's own privacy policy.
How we use it
We use traffic records to understand which stories people read and to keep the site running and secure. We use newsletter addresses only to send the newsletter and service messages about it. Every newsletter includes a way to unsubscribe.
Who processes it
The site is hosted by Vercel, and our database is run by Supabase. They store and process data on our behalf under their own security and data-protection terms, and they may not use it for their own purposes.
How long we keep it
Traffic records hold no IP address or anything else that identifies you, and we keep them for as long as they help us understand readership. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any issue. Depending on where you live, including California and the European Economic Area, you may have additional rights under local law, and we will honor them.
The site is written for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes and requests
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
Requests about your information and questions about this policy can be sent by mail to TrestleWire, PO Box 13663 Providence Rd, Weddington, NC 28104.
